Revisiting The Resurrection

Starting with services this Sunday we, along with most gatherings of Jesus’ followers, will revisit the events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus.  We have chosen a different approach this year.  Typically we have presented a musical drama at the Chittenango HS auditorium on Easter Eve and morning.  This year we are remembering with three connected, but distinct, presentations called “8 Days—Into Jerusalem, Into Darkness, and Into Light”.  They will revisit Jesus’ triumphal entry, his crucifixion, and the resurrection; with our auditorium providing the scenery putting us all “in” the events.

At this weekend’s services, “Into Jerusalem” will include praise songs, drama scenes, a message, and celebrating the Lord’s Supper folk style, where participants come forward, tear off from the loaf of bread, dip it in the grape juice and return to their seats.

Next Thursday’s service “Into Darkness” will have music and drama contemplating Jesus’ passion before and during the crucifixion.

Next weekend we will host “Into Light” on Saturday at 7PM and Sunday at 9 & 10:30AM.  The service will include drama, testimonies, a medley of resurrection hymns by a vocal ensemble, testimonies of CrossRoads folks whose lives have been and continue to be transformed by God’s grace and praise time with songs focusing on the Lord’s work of salvation.

These are all great opportunities to invite friends and neighbors, particularly those who may not regularly worship the Lord.  It’s a great opportunity for them to hear of how much God loves them and what He has done to invite them into His presence.

On a completely different topic—we are continuing our expansion efforts and getting more of the plans finalized. We are laboring toward having the outer structure enclosed by November 1st of this year.  Our Gala planning team has an exciting night in store on April 29th, when we will celebrate God’s past work and look to the future.  I believe God is already expanding our reach into the community and will use our efforts far beyond our expectations.

Looking forward to seeing you!
